Niagarascapes
The Niagara Region, consists of many beautiful cities and towns. The places I like to photograph the most are the falls area in the city of Niagara Falls, of course, and the historic town of Niagara on the Lake. Images of the entire Niagara Region collectively I like to call Niagarascapes. Photographing Niagara Falls, I like to compose my images with the falls as just one element of the image rather than the main focus. I find the mighty Niagara has been photographed millions of times with the the same composition, and I rarely want to take another cookie cutter image of it. Yes, I do have some of them too, but they aren't what I think as very creative. My desire is to create my own original pieces.
If you see colour to the sky, being the morning person that I am, most of these Niagara landscape photos have been taken at sunrise rather than sunset. It's my favourite time to shoot Niagara.

Looking Back At The Future (#0830)
"Days of barefoot freedom racing with the waves
Nights of starlit secrets, crackling driftwood flames
Drinking by the lighthouse, smoking on the pier
Still we saw the magic was fading every year".
Yes, this is the lighthouse Neil Peart from Rush was writing about on their 1975 album Bastille Day.
Looking over Lake Ontario lies the outer lighthouse at Port Dalhousie. Currently (2019), Lake Ontario is at record high levels with the water over the top of the piers. The piers are in the process of being rebuilt with no access to this spot to shoot this shot again. I'm looking back at older images dreaming of the future when things return to normal. Hopefully the rebuild doesn't change the atmosphere of the old lakeside lighthouses.
